"Our Society is screaming for change"

The approval rating of Congress is just like the approval of career politicians across the board. The frustration comes from OUR government, where professional politics has become focused on salary, rather than civil service.

Our standard of living is in jeopardy, more people are losing their jobs, homes, and health benefits than new jobs, housing options, and medical services are being offered. Most people feel that their vote can’t do anything about this. We need to see a change in our culture of government if we wish to see the results that we have been promised in every political campaign. The People’s approval and participation will only recover when we create a powerful role for direct, public involvement. The People deserve the ability to enforce petitions, influence policy and budget changes in a facilitated manner, and the ability to temporarily suspend the powers of their elected officials who fail to represent the People.

Excerpted from the Oregon Constitution:

Section 1. Natural rights inherent in people. We declare that all men, when they form a social compact are equal in right: that all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety, and happiness; and they have at all times a right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.–

We have grave socioeconomic issues that need to be addressed. If we can’t fix these with the tools that are available, then there are flaws within the system that need to be improved. Change isn’t a big enough word to describe what we need.

We need a Transformation.
